What does health mean to you?

In my experience it conjures up many different pictures and thoughts for people from gleaming hair, tanned skin and sylph like body to feeling happy and confident in your own skin no matter what shape or size.  For some it has a negative meaning as you constantly battle with ill health, mood swings or weight problems.

It will mean something different for each one of you and that’s the key.  You are unique and as such you need to understand what success looks like in terms of your own health not anyone elses.  What works for a friend may not work for you.  There’s no point in beating yourself up for not going to the gym regularly when you absolutely hate going to the gym.  You really need to focus on what works for you.  If you are not sure what that is then the sooner you try out certain things the sooner you will know.

  • Do you want to eat 5 portions of fruit and veg daily, drink plenty of water and exercise three times a week?  Or maybe just some would be good!
  • Perhaps you want to reduce the hours you work to feel less tired?
  • Maybe you want to improve the quality of your sleep so that you wake up feeling refreshed and energetic?
  • Maybe your immune system needs a boost so that you catch less colds?
  • Perhaps you want to lose some weight to fit those jeans?

- How are your stress levels?
- How often do you take time out just for you?
- How often do you make decisions to please other people and then end up feeling annoyed or frustrated and down in the dumps?
- Is your quality of life affected by recurring health problems?
